It would be most helpful if you can state your nightly hotel budget in euro.

hi Paris
I was only hoping to spend 150 to a maximum 200 australian dollars. I%26#39;m not sure what that would be converted to Euros.

I always recommend the http://www.hotel-lelaumiere.com/index-gb.htm
I%26#39;ve stayed there 3 or 4 times, Its always clean, only 4 stops on the metro from Gare du nord, and the metro is literally 20 metres from the hotel. It%26#39;s nice and quiet, and you have the amazing Parc des Buttes about 200m away. Plenty of restaurants and shops in the area, a really nice Paris suburban experience. All the staff speak english, but like most french people, appreciate a bonjour or bon soir in good Australian. Not a lot of nighlife in the area, but its only 20 minute from the centre. If youre a Sydneysider think of it as staying on the north shore...........
It%26#39;s 62eur (a spit over 100AUD) a night, add breakfast to that. I usually have a croissant and a coffee at the bat across the street, but the 8euro brakfast is really quite good ( I tried in xmas 2004)

um - for %26quot;bat%26quot; read bar...........

Izza, on current exchange rates you are talking 95 to 125 Euros - enough for something pleasant but not OTT. The Hotel de Nice in a good area of the Marais opposite Hotel de Ville is my recommendation. I have stayed there 3 times. The price of a twin or double is 105 Euros and eat breakfast out - try Contini at 42 rue des Rosiers for the best almond croissants and good coffee - or anywhere else.
Avoid the twins that have long narrow rooms with beds toe to toe - they are ok for one but not really for two - they are rooms 15 and 16 and possibly others. Ask if they have a twin facing rue de Rivoli on the 4th or 5th floors (lift from the 1st floot) as they have double french doors with %26quot;Juliet%26quot; balconies and are really nice.
