Chamonix Mid June 2006

My son and I will be in Chamonix from 10 June to 13 June. Our main goal is to take the Augille Du Midi cable car over to Courmayuer in Italy and back. Does this seem to be a problem to anyone? Even if it is %26quot;off=season%26quot;?? We are staying at Hotel LePieure.....has anyone stayed there....did you like it?

Typically not a problem that time of year. I have been over as far as Pointe Helbronner in June. Crowds aren%26#39;t too bad then on weekdays. No need for a reservation if you go early in the morning. Just walk to the téléphérique station and get your roundtrip tickets for however far you want to go. You may have to wait a car or two, but it shouldn%26#39;t be long.

The question is what will the weather be like? If it is really socked in you won%26#39;t see anything. Typically in June you%26#39;ll have clear mornings and thunderstorms in the afternoons. It is certainly possible to get a real storm, but in four days you ought to have at least some clear weather.

Even if it is warm in the valley be prepared for below freezing temps up high. The cable car across the vallée blanche gets quite warm in full sun, but if it is cloudy it can be a pretty chilly ride.

If you like good food and a spectacular view the restaurant le 3842 at the top of the Aiguille du Midi is excellent for savoyarde cuisine.
