1st Paris trip

I am planning a trip 2 - 3 nights using the Eurostar and I am looking for somewhere to stay thats going to be easy to get to from the station and in a reasonable area.

I read some reviews of the gare du nord where the Eurostar stops saying it was a dodgy area to stay?

Obviously I want to see all the tourist sites.

Suggestions?

Thanks

There really isn%26#39;t much reason to stay in the vicinity of the Gare du Nord - the metro can get you anywhere in Paris quickly and cheaply. The area round the Gare du Nord isn%26#39;t very attractive, but I wouldn%26#39;t mind staying there, though.

As long as your hotel has a metro stop nearby, there is not much to worry about; and the Paris metro system is designed so that no location within the city is more than 500 or 550 m from a metro stop. Metro lines 4 and 5 and RER lines B and D all stop at Gare du Nord, so if you take a hotel that%26#39;s close to one of the stops of those lines, you can avoid transfers.

You can use the RATP website (www.ratp.fr ) to plan trips from the station to the hotel, and back.
