hotel suggestion for mother and daughter trip

visiting paris for brief stay in mid march and bringing my college age daughter along. i have a work meeting in the 16th arrondisement but do not know if this is a good area from which to sightsee. should we try a different part of the city as a base and if so, can you recommend hotels near there? any experience with hotel poussin or hotel hameaux de passy? any suggestions for things to do also appreciated as trip is short notice leaving little time for research. thank you

ps. she wants to know if there are gyms you can purchase day passes to if not in a hotel

The 16th district is residential and the main attraction is the Eiffel Tower and the Palais de Chaillot. If you can stay in another district I recommend the 6th bordering on the 5th at the Michelet Odeon. It%26#39;s a 2* hotel that%26#39;s got very good rates and is modern.

I neglected to mention my reasons for recommending the 6th district. There are far more restaurant and nightlife choices than the 16th. Also there are many sights (e.g. Notre Dame, St. Germain, Marais) within walking distance of each other.

will check out 6th district - budget is hopefully under $125 per night. is metro best way to get around? how far would 6th be from 16th near passy metro station where will need to work while daughter tours

thank you

By metro it depends on where in the 6th district you end up staying. If it%26#39;s near or at the Odeon metro, for example, then there would have to be a transfer from the #4 line to the #6 line at the Pasteur station and from there it%26#39;s six stops to get to the Passy station fromwhat I can tell.
