Is Easter Thursday a public holiday in France?

Just to qualify this a bit more - I am presuming that Easter Thursday is not a public holiday, but I saw an earlier posting suggesting that a lot of people take this as a holiday.
If so - how are things in Paris over this time - very busy I presume? Are shops etc open as normal?

Easter MONDAY is a holiday (and of course Easter Sunday) but Paris has a lot of tourists at that time of year (especially from neighboring countries) and most places of interest to them are open.
Good Friday in NOT a holiday.

To add to la photographe%26#39;s post: Good Friday is not a bank holiday in France, except however in Alsace (Strasbourg) and north of Lorraine (Metz).
