Thalys Ticket - which terminal is best???

I%26#39;m making my first trip to Paris and will be taking the Thalys from Paris to Brussels. I was going to book it tonight, but realized there are many, many options for where to get on the Thalys in Paris. As I have not yet booked a hotel and am not familiar with Paris, I have no clue which one to book. Assuming I stay no further out than the 8th or 9th, can someone tell me which terminal would be easiest to get to? Thank you in advance!

The ***ONLY*** station option you have for the THALYS (or EUROSTAR) high-speed trains in Paris is from PARIS-Gare du Nord. Gare du Nord is located up in the 10eme, on the Right Bank, at rue de Dunkerque, between rue de Maubeuge %26amp; rue du Faubourg-Saint Denis. Gare du Nord is serviced by the #4 %26amp; #5 Metro lignes and RER %26#39;B%26#39; %26amp; %26#39;E%26#39; lignes...as well as several public bus routes.

Merci KDKSAIL. I had just found that out by %26quot;playing%26quot; with the options. Even though the Thalys website would let me pick a different terminal, it would default back to Nord.

If you have any advice for us for hotels, etc., it would be much appreciated! We are considering the Eden Hotel Montmartre, which while quite far out appears to be in a charming area and close to a terminal. Your thoughts?

Thanks again.

I wouldn%26#39;t select a hotel predicated on it%26#39;s proximity to Gare du Nord. So don%26#39;t limit yourself to that criteria.Almost anywhere in Paris won%26#39;t be more than a 10 €uro cab ride from the station.

We%26#39;re big fans (others have their own %26#39;favorites%26#39;) of the Left Bank neighborhoods of the upper-6eme--Saint Germain des Pres (use the %26#39;wedge%26#39; between the Seine to the north, Blvd. Saint Germain to the south, Blvd Saint Michel to the east and rue des Saint Péres to the west as a rough/approx. guide)...which is either within easy strolling/walking distance or convenient to a great many of Paris most popular sights and attractions. The neighborhoods also provide more than enough good restaurants, bistrots and cafés to suit almost any taste, appetite or budget, maore than enough café nigh-life and more than enough interestiing shopping opportunities to %26#39;max out%26#39; all be AMEX %26#39;black%26#39; and excellent public transportation connections to the other great neighborhoods of Paris---all within easy strolling/walking distance of the lobby of your hotel.

Do you have a proposed hotel budget per night?

Thanks KDKSAIL. We are hoping to find a hotel for 80 euro or less per night (hopefully including a continental breakfast). We don%26#39;t need much, but would like something clean with twin beds and a private shower. We will be in Paris in May, if that makes any difference. Your advice/suggestions are much appreciated.

80€ is a bit tough unless you want a bare-bones *star?...

Within the neighborhood I described, the number of hotels within your budget range are a bit thin-on-the-ground.

HÔTEL de NESLE--(0-star) 7 rue de Nesle (nr. rue Dauphine), 75006, Metro: Odeon %26amp; Pont Neuf

http://www.hoteldenesle.net/

This is a %26#39;..quirky,,%26#39; little no-star (un-rated) that may not be for every taste...but it is clean, well run and very well situated in a great location and neighborhood.

HÔTEL SAINT ANDRÉ des ARTS--(1-star) 66 rue Saint André des Arts (at rue Amdré Mazet), 75006, Metro: Odeon--

www.123france.com/123/en/hotel.php?id_hot=486

This is another %26#39;quirky%26#39; little hotel, that is a bit %26#39;frayed-around-the-edges%26#39; but clean and well run On a %26#39;..charme..%26#39; scale of 1-to-10, this place would probably rate a %26#39;3%26#39;. Yet this %26#39;quiry%26#39; little 1-star has a fairly loyal repeat-clientelle of those wanting a great location in a great neighborhood on a limited budget.

If you can make your budget stretch a bit,...and you can fit your visit into the Promotion dates for this hotel, this little 2-star would be a GREAT choice--

HÔTEL de SAINT GERMAIN--(2-star) 50 rue du Four, 75006, Metro: Saint Sulpice %26amp; Saint Germain des Pres--

The HÔTEL EDEN MONTMARTRE (2-star)--90 rue Ordener (nr. rue de Tretaigne) 75018,Metro: #12-Jules Joffrin

www.edenhotel-montmartre.com/uk/l_hotel.html

The hotel is located on the back-side of Montmartre (there may be views of Basilique de Sacre Coeur from top-floor-front rooms) and though probably pleasant enough (there%26#39;s a great little neighborhood parc--Square Léon Serpollet) neighborhood, within the almost %26#39;%26#39;village..%26#39; feel of Montmartre in general.....this location will not be either central or especially convenient other than by #12 Metro (probably involving at least on train transfer most trips) The hotel%26#39;s web site also lists the public bus routes which run through the immediate neighborhood.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this hotel or this neighborhood.....except that it will be a just bit inconvenient (not realy within easy walking distances) to get to most of the sights and attractions of Paris that you%26#39;ve probably come to see.
