women's shoes for pants + skirts

Can anyone recommend a good women%26#39;s shoe that looks acceptable (read: not too clunky) with both pants and skirts? I can%26#39;t wear high heels and will be putting in the usual 5+ miles a day. Thanks as usual!

go to zappos.com and browse the %26quot;dress flats%26quot; and %26quot;casual flats%26quot;.... lots of them have leather soles, so look for something with a rubber sole (no matter how thin)..... flats don%26#39;t offer a lot of support for walking, but with some thin gel insoles, you should be fine. There has to be something there that%26#39;s dressy but not too dressy. Flats are really nice with knee-length skirts.

Break them in before-hand to see if they cause blisters. Even if they do, you%26#39;d probably develop a callus before you left. Or you can use foot powder, blister pads or moleskin where they rub.

I%26#39;ve been trying to solve this one for the last 5 years! If you%26#39;re going in warm weather, sandals work. Clarks and Mephisto have some that are comfortable and not too clunky. For cooler weather, maybe a pair of boots or some sleek loafers?

just looked on the Nordstrom website, Kenneth Cole have some really cute comfy looking rubber soled loafers in their %26#39;reaction%26#39; range.I really liked the %26#39;Mocc softly%26#39; ones, very European in their styling!

Some models of French Soles could work with pants and skirts. Have a look at the web page.

Personally, I prefer more the sporty style like very lightweight mokassins/loafers.

My favorite for traveling are Arcopedico Mary Jane%26#39;s. Most comfortable shoe I%26#39;ve used for walking Europe yet. I found mine at Sole Desire, but I don%26#39;t know if that%26#39;s a chain or just local to me. They have them in the Travelsmith catalog as well so you can check at Travelsmith.com.
