info on Paris and Normandy

Hi, we are coming to France in July after a 3 day stay in London and after France onto Germany. My ques is how should we get to Normandy and Mont. St-Micel from London? Do we take the chunnel to Paris and then a train to Normandy, or can we go to Normandy directly by train and bypass Paris.

I am thinking that we should do our 2 days in Normandy and Mont St-Micel first and then go back and do 3 days in Paris and then continue to Germany.

What does this wonderfully helpful forum think?

If you can get to Caen and rent a car you

can drive to Normandy, then Mont St. Michel.

Drive back to Caen, turn the car in and

take the train to Paris.

This way you avoid backtracking, a waste of

time and unnecessary additional expense.

We rented a car in Paris and drove to Mont Saint Michel and we loved the drive along the Seine. The smaller towns and villages along the way were wonderful.

I believe you can take a train from Gare Montparnasse to Rennes and then board a bus to the Abbey.

You might check to see if the eurostar train stops anywhere near Normandy on the way to Paris....I haven%26#39;t checked the sncf website but it%26#39;s worth checking out...If it doesn, then I%26#39;d rent a car there, and take it to Mt. St. Michel and then continue to Paris....Going all the way to Paris and then back to Mt. St. Michel seems a waste of time if you can avoid it...I agree that I%26#39;d want to do two days in Normandy/Mt. St. Michel and then go on to Paris before going on to Germany...That avoids backtracking...

You might also check out the ferries that run between England and Normandy...Again, don%26#39;t know your time constraints or how long those ferries take vs. a fast train if it stops in Normandy...Of course, a really fast train into Paris and connection to train out to Rennes to rent car might take the least amount of time..altho you%26#39;d have to change train stations and the ones involved are on opposite sides of Paris from each other basically...Perhaps others have done your trip and can be more specific..
