Villefranche to Eze

Like many from the U.S. we will only be in Villefranche for one day. We have heard a lot about Eze. Is there an easy way to get to Eze from Villifranche? Approximately how much is the bus fare and/or train fare.

Everyone talks about going to the beach at Villefranche. Is there a fee? Are cafes nearby for food and beverage?

Beach is free. Not the world%26#39;s best beach, a mixture of stones and imported sand, but full of beautiful young women in July/August (or so my wife tells me - I am too old to notice) There are cafes beside the beach and in the region of thirty within five minutes or so.

Bus to Nice takes about 10/15 mns and then another 15 to Eze but there are long gaps between the buses to Eze. You can also get bus or train (7 mns)to Eze Bord de Mer. I believe there is then a bus to the village but I have never actually seen it. Total cost of train/bus is about 4 euros each way.

Area around Nice has the world%26#39;s most expensive taxis but Villefranche to Eze is only about four miles, so I would guess about 25 euros each way.

This is not Switzerland or Japan, so trains and buses are not wholly reliable.

Waited over an hour for a bus from Eze down to the train station. Eze was beautiful and worth while seeing.

You mentioned that the taxi from Villafranche to Eze might be about 25 euros. Is that per person or total cost?

Also, regarding the beach, is there a nicer beach nearby that doesn%26#39;t have a lot of stones? We were looking for a beach that was within walking distance of the port.

If that isn%26#39;t possible at Villafranche, are there beaches at other ports that are within walkting distance of the where the ship docks --ie, Barcelona, Livorno, Civitacecchia, Naples, Santorini, Pireaus or Dubrovnik?

|||

2mentor it looks like we%26#39;re going on the same cruise. In our research of the port in Croatia there seem to be a lot of public beaches that have gotten good reviews else where.

|||

25 euros for the taxi, not for each person, bit do ask the driver before you set off.

|||

Both bus 82 and 112 go from Nice to Eze-Village (the medieval village every one must see). And both buses go through Villefranche and have stops there. One way fare is 1,30 euro, a one day pass is 4 euros.

To LEAH5370 -We may be taking the same cruise...Celebrity leaving from Barcelona and ending in Venice. Which ports have you found to have beaches within walking distance of the port which you are visiting?

|||

yymca6, both bus routes go along the Moyenne Corniche and getting to the stops that are technically in Villefranche would require a very steep up hill walk of at least a mile from the seafront, something that I suspect most cruise passengers would be reluctant to do!

I%26#39;d rather walk the hill on a paved road in Villefranche than climb up the mountain from Eze-Bord de mer to Eze Village...
