Metro Help/tips please?????

Hi,

My husband and I are doing a whistle stop trip to Paris in a couple of weeks - due to family commitments we have just 3 hours, yes just 3 hours to see some of the city before heading back on the Euro Star. Can anyone tell me how to get from Gare du Nord to the eiffel Tower via the Metro without me losing the will to live or my husband!!!!

Somebody has also suggested that we might have just enough time to do a river boat trip before hurtling back to Gare Du Nord - is that possible or any tips on what we can achieve would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

You should be able to make the trip from Gare du Nord to the Tour Eiffel by metro in 35-40 minutes. If you want to climb it - expect long queues!

To plan trips on the public transport in Paris, you can use the RATP route planner: www.ratp.fr

I think you may get more of your time by using a taxi, in your case it may well be the best, as you have a metro/RER connection from the gare du Nord to the Eiffel tower (no time to go up, just a quick look). From Gare du Nord Take the Rue de Maubeuge, then the Grands Boulevards to see the Opéra, avenue de l%26#39;opéra, arcades du louvre, concorde, Drive up the Champs Elysées (monter les Champs Elysées), Arc de triomphe, then go to trocadéro for a photo of the eiffel tower, then ask your driver to drive along the river (le long de la Seine côté rive gauche) so you see the invalides, Alexander IIIrd bridge, Concorde square (place de la concorde), Orsay Muséum, Louvre, along the Seine (quai des Tuileries et quai du LOuvre)towards Notre Dame. You might some time to have look inside. From there i think it will be time to go back, check if it is three hours available check-in included or not, as i guess you have to be there 45 minutes or an hour before your train leaves. You can print this itinearary and show it to the driver

Hi. I think the fastest way to get to the eiffel tower from gare du nord would be to take the RER train. You can catch the RER B train from Gare du Nord (you will see the signs - you want direction : Massy Paliseau), change at %26quot;SAINT MICHEL%26quot;, then pick up the RER C train at Saint Michel (direction Champs de Mars -Tour Eiffel) and get off at the stop %26quot;Champs de Mars - Tour Eiffel%26quot;. You will then have about a 10 minute walk to the Eiffel tower. The total time for this trip should be about 35 minutes.

I am not sure about the timing for a boat trip as you will need to get back to the Gare du Nord 30 minutes before your train leaves, but there are boats available at the foot of the Eiffel Tower on the Seine. Another option would be to stroll down the banks of the Seine until Saint Michel where you could get a direct RER B back to Gare du Nord (or the metro line 4).

It%26#39;s just as easy as stepping out of Gare du Nord and walking to the southeast corner of the station (to your LEFT as you exit the station onto the street) to the corner of rue Dunkerque %26amp; rue du Faubourg-Saint Denis and taking the #42 public bus across the center of Paris past the Garnier Opéra, past the Églis Madeleine, around Place de la Concorde, up the lower-half of Champs Élysée, across the Seine at Pont de l%26#39;Alma, along part of the Left Bank untill you see a large, pointy, cast iron construction, teeming with people. At a guess, the ride should take 25-30 minutes. There are Seine sightseeing bots that depart from the quais just below the tower. The average sightseeing cruise takes 50-50 minutes.

Once again thanks for all your help - if we were to get a taxi outside Gare du Nord to the Eiffel Tower or the Trocedaro - how much should we expect to pay?

many thanks
