Hello

My Fiance and I are Traveling to Paris for a 4 nights in mid may. We are looking for help on places to stay:

What we think we would like:

-$300 dollars or less per night

-4 star or greater

-central location ( we are leaning toward -St. Germain area)

-near lots of cafe%26#39;s

-on a little side street or alley

-comfy room with nice bathrooms

(we are considering hotel buci and henry IV)

any help would be great!!

Let%26#39;s start with Paris hotel categories: they run from 0 to 4*L (for luxury). The 4-stars are very expensive, and you won%26#39;t be likely to find any for $300 or less per night; many of the good 3-stars are at least that expensive. Also, most of the 4-stars are on the Right Bank, although there are increasing numbers of them on the Left Bank.

St-Germain is a great location, and you would certainly find lots of cafés and nice restaurants at moderate prices.

The better 3-star hotels will have nice rooms with good bathrooms. You could try venere.com for discounts--I%26#39;ve had good luck there. One hotel you could consider is the Villa d%26#39;Estrées, which is right on the border of St-Germain and the St-Michel area. It%26#39;s a small hotel with quite large rooms in a nice little neighborhood.

Four stars are out of your budget. There are some very nice three stars. Most hotels are comfy, it is the %26quot;roomyness%26quot; that most of us North Americans miss. Even a very nice three star room may seem small to you, but, you are in Paris and that should definately compensate! I %26#39;d rather have a small room in Paris( as long as clean and central) then a two room suite in the midwest!! LOL ( just a joke no offence to midwesterners)

Read all the post on hotels on this site and you will learn alot, plus check out the reviews, they are very helpful.

Hi jbdmd, here are a couple of really nice hotels in the Marais area in the 4th (a great area to stay) with deluxe or suite rooms within your budget of about 250 Euros a night

parisby.com/labretonnerie/pages/gallery.htm

This is a little further from the Seine, in the Marais but in the 3rd arrondisement - fairly new and designed by Christian Lacroix

AND it is a 4 star but affordable and in a really trendy area

thanks to all who replied!

underhill: you nailed it!

we settled on hotel d%26#39;Estrees...reading your post helped me feel good about that

my concerns about it or any place are:

1)is it comfrotable, bed size bathrooms, luggage space (i traveled a bunch in europe as a student years back where it is all about price but now i am willing to pay for some creature comforts)

2)is it in an area bustling with cafe%26#39;s etc

we plan on eating out for all our meals(we looked at the hotel de buci which seemed to me teaming with activity right outside the door....we were tempted!)

3)budget went out the window we are now at about 300 euro%26#39;s per night for a suite at hotel d%26#39;estrees

Nice comfy room: a must

Area teeming with activity: a must

price: not a major consideration

I don%26#39;t quite understand %26quot;bed sized bathrooms.%26quot; ???

We%26#39;ll be staying at the Villa d%26#39;Estrées this year, but not in a suite--apparently the regular rooms are quite large.

On the left bank, try these:

Hotel Bel Ami

Hotel de l%26#39;Abbaye

Hotel le Saint Gregoire

All fit your criteria.
