5 days in Nice

hello

as we are not renting a car, do you have any

ideas how to spent 5 great days in Nice and other great places. We like to take a train/bus. I am going with mum (79), so long walking tours are not preferable.

we have a hotel near the station in Nice next week. (eg Monaco, St Tropez ?)

Thanks for your replies !!!

Nice is nice in itself. During five days, you will not run out of nice things to do in Nice itself.

You may find out what to do once here. In local book-shops you can buy interesting guidebooks, opening new horizons compared to the more mainstream international publications. A lot depends on your areas of interest and the twist you want to give to your stay. You can take the train to Menton - a completely different city. You can continue all the way to San Remo. Completely different again. There is a narrow gauge track with a few railcars taking you up into the mountains and back again. Also a possible day-trip. In the close vicinity of Nice you have the nice smaller towns of Villefranche and Beaulieu: There and back, you go by bus, along the corniches. The perched village of Eze is a well-advertised one but there are dozens more. Haut-de-Cagnes is IMO worth a visit. The Maeght Foundation museum of modern art equally so. The Old Town of Antibes and Cannes can both be reached by train. You are right refraining from a rental car. If all of a sudden you decide e.g. that you want to make your individual round trip into the back country, you can always rent one locally.

Plus the beach life, the food, the night life, and an array of both cultural and other events. Again, some kind of choice may have to be made. There are bus lines in all directions. The train station area itself has a popular, ethnic touch and is full of small, equally ethnic restaurants.
