Hotels with good Locations in Paris

Hotels in Paris with great locations??

My husband has never been to Paris and I have only once when I was in high school. We are going there to do all the toursit things. Unfortunately my husband hates WALKING. I need to make sure that our hotel location is a close to all the touristy stuff (or the subway/transportation) as possible. I know the location and convieneice of our hotel will make or break the trip. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!

I am looking for a reasonable hotel- location is the first priority.

After location I am looking for cleanliness, amenities (like a restaurant in the hotel and room service), customer service, and things like a small frig in the room. I do want to be in a nice place. Hopefully with larger rooms.

Finally price- I don%26#39;t want something outrageous (over $200 per night). I am looking in the $100-$200 (US Dollars) price range. I am willing to pay to have a great location, but I do want the most bang for my buck.

Can someone tell me what hotels Top 3-5 that I should look into and reseach?

Too bad your husband hates walking. Paris is the best walking city in the world. Every street has something to enjoy and you%26#39;ll really miss out by not doing a little walking. If he has physical limitations, I understand, but if it%26#39;s just that he gets bored, you might want to force him to try -- I%26#39;ll bet he likes it better than he thinks.

About the closest to your requirements is the Henri IV Rive Gauche Hotel. It%26#39;s listed at around $200 a night, but maybe you can get a deal. It%26#39;s worth trying since it%26#39;s in a spectacular spot. It%26#39;s rated no. 6 on the %26quot;Paris Hotels%26quot; link on the left side of this page. The rooms won%26#39;t be large (not many in Paris are), but the location is the key and you hopefully won%26#39;t be spending that much time in the room.

One thing to keep in mind -- the metro is wonderful and definitely gets you to and from quickly, but you do a lot of walking (up and down stairs) in each individual station. If he REALLY won%26#39;t walk, he won%26#39;t like the metro either.

Check out Hotel du Louvre.

lizzzzie -

The largest rooms we have had on our vacation trips in Paris have been in 2 star hotels located in old buildings. When my husband is there on business, his clients make the hotel decisions. In those cases we have been in 4 and 5 star places with all kinds of ritzy amenities - but much smaller rooms(and bathrooms) than you would get in a comparable hotel in North America.

If your husband likes to eat, you might get him to walk places by reminding him that restaurants in France must post their bills of fare outside. It%26#39;s one our favourite activites, reading les cartes (what we call the menus) as we walk around town, looking for the perfect place for dinner than night. BTW - if you ask for le menu, you are ordering the special set meal of the day.

If he won%26#39;t even walk with you to find a restaurant, leave him home next time. Half the pleasure in Paris is nosing around in the neighbourhoods, peeking inside the courtyards, etc. and just being there.

Hi,

There are many fantastic Parisiene hotels that have restaurants, room service, large rooms and fantastic locations (close to all the touristy stuff). We were fortunate one year (with parents) to stay in the Relais Christine (parents paying)!

However! (personal opinion of course)

A hotel room in Paris should have a comfortable bed, a very clean bathroom with a power shower you would not believe!, be reasonably quiet (a little night atmosphere is good), cleanliness - most certainly yes, a good location (preferably just left/right of the Seine, and centrally located)(our preference), attentive service (taxis when required, information on locality etc, a drink with us in the cafe 4 doors away), a fridge/mini bar (to keep a bottle of water cool), no TV (thankyou phread - my teenage sons are horrified, the idea appeals to both of us however!) it remains switched off, a breakast room to set you up for the day ahead, not far from a Nicholas Off-licence (liquor store) for an already chilled bottle of champagne to take back to your room, a small grocery nearby perhaps (to buy a bottle or two of water), a selection of cafes and restaurants that you can stroll to, a metro nearby (never far away in Paris) to take you to sights a little further a field.

We use

www.paris-travel.com

and have settled on one hotel for our last five visits, our sixth visit is now less than 18 hours away (sorry folks for keeping the clock running down)!

However, on this occasion I won%26#39;t mention the hotel because I do not believe it meets with your requirements. If you change your mind...........

Best wishes
