9th arrondissement

I have heard good and bad about the 7th. What about the 9th? Our hotel is there. I presume that we will need to travel on the Metro. Will we find reasonably priced restaurants? Is there anything wrong with buying fruit and eating it in our hotel to supplement our meals?

Nothing wrong with bringing fruit or even beverages into your room.

Some hotels, like the Muguet in the 7th, say it%26#39;s forbidden at their place. I believe, it%26#39;s mainly because they don%26#39;t want bread crumbs, wine and other stains on the carpets and bed spreads.

I am a big fan of the 9th arrondissement which can be near or far.

The Opera Garnier is in the 9th i.e close to center of town, and the 9th also goes up to the bottom of Montmartre%26#39;s Butte (hill).

It does not have a lot of attractions for tourist. There are a few museums like Musee de la vie romantique and Musee Edgard Moreau. It also houses the department stores Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. 9th borders 2nd, 8th, 17th and 18th and is very spread out. Mostly residential. Main market area is Rue des Martyrs and there are also many convenience stores. Some good restaurants and beautiful architecture around Place Saint Georges and in the whole area called Nouvelle Athenes.

I agree with LaPhotographe. The southern parts of the 9th are a bit too %26quot;downtown%26quot; (i.e., business district) to be very charming, but the areas around St-Georges, Trudaine, upper rue des Martyrs, and Nouvelle Athènes can be very nice. Public transportation in the area is excellent.
