lesbian hotel paris

I am a single over 40 female travelling to Paris for a week in April I would like to stay in an upscale lesbian hotel. Does anyone know of a property such as this?

Thanks

Good luck!! Although it is very progressive for gay men, France is lightyears behind North America when it comes to women%26#39;s businesses. In fact, I think there is now only one Lesbian bar in a metro area of 9 million people! The flip side is that women blessedly seem to be more welcome in gay male bars (except those with darkrooms, of course). You might call the Hotel Centrale (a rather delapidated gay hotel in the Marais) for a recommendation. Frankly, French society is much more open to various orientations, so you would not feel at all uncomfortable at nearly any hotel (i.e., you could ask the desk clerk to make reservations at gay restaurants, or give directions to bars, etc. without discomfort).

I%26#39;m not aware if any larger, up-scale hotel in Paris that is specifically G/L/B oriented. As mentioned, the HÔTEL CENTRAL is a bit of a shabby-gay %26#39;institution%26#39;...but not a place any discerning traveler would select. Frank;y, since a great many %26#39;boutique%26#39; hotels in Paris are small, were your group to check-in, most would probably become de facto %26#39;..lesbian..%26#39; for the duration of your group%26#39;s stay. So don%26#39;t restrict your hotel search based on that criteria alone.

There really are no areas in central Paris which are G/L/B un-friendly...but the neighborhoods of the 3eme-upper-Marais and 4eme-lower-Marais/Îles may be the most popular with G/L/B residents and visitors. So with this in mind, you might begin your hotel search in these neighborhoods.

You might try the Colette B%26amp;B. It%26#39;s a gay B%26amp;B in the 1st and Lesbian owned.

There%26#39;s also a gay owned B%26amp;B in the 5th, and the 4 star gay owned Victoria Palace Hotel in the 6th.

You might want to look at purpleroofs.com

The Hotel Central is for gay men only I believe and has a shared bathroom for 7 rooms. Not a suitable spot. While it is not a gay or lesbian hotel, the Hotel de la Bretonnerie is very gay/lesbian friendly (like lots of others in the Marais) and well placed for good bars and restaurants.

There is or used to be a lesbian bar at 8 rue des ecouffes in the Marais quite near the Bretonnerie that was called %26quot;Les Scandaleuses%26quot; but then was renamed WWW or 3W.

ArrowCapet%26#39;s suggestions sound interesting

HOLY CRAP! Did you just say that out loud?? No one would ever acuse the Central of being upscale, but I am absolutely certain that the thousands of gay men who have stayed at this %26quot;institution%26quot; over the last 25 years and taken away many fond memories would take exception to that statement! Clutch the pearls!!!

Faux: Their are 7 rooms, but there are a total of 4 bathrooms. 1 room has its own private bath, and then on each floor there are two rooms with a shared bath and WC.

Thanks ArrowCapet, Sorry for giving the wrong information. I read a review a few years ago that just mentioned there was a shared bathroom and the singular made me assume it was a single bathroom. I agree with your comment that it can%26#39;t be that bad if it has remained popular for 25 years. Loved the %26quot;clutch the pearls%26quot;

Tens of millions of %26quot;..fond memories..%26quot; still won%26#39;t change the FACTS. This hotel%26#39;s general condition,, furnishings, decor, amenities are more than a bit %26#39;frayed-around-the-edges%26#39; and very basic...or at least that%26#39;s what I observed on the one occasion that I stopped at the Central to check it out for my brother, who had heard about it and was considering staying there. That it also happens to be a %26#39;..gay institution..%26#39; has absolutely NOTHING to do with the general condition or amenties of the hotel. It was/is indeed %26quot;..shabby..%26quot;. Memory is a selective thing. I have fond memories of being young, handsome, brilliant and humble. Now I%26#39;m just brilliant and humble.

I would expect gay men to only stay at hotels that are impeccably decorated, lol.
