Does anyone have any suggestions about travelling to Normandy from Paris. Is this a possible day trip? What is the best way to travel to Normandy? My husband and I are both children of Canadian soldiers and believe it is respectful to our fathers to visit the beaches of Normandy. Are there other places people would recommend to visit while we where there?
Thanks for your advice

The Normandy beaches are not an easy day trip from Paris; you really need two days to get there and back and do some sightseeing in between. Besides the landing beaches you might want to visit the Peace Museum in Caen, the Bayeux Tapestry, and the pretty little seaside town of Honfleur. Perhaps three days?
If one day is all you have, your best bet would be to take a tour--but those are expensive and in many cases just drive you past the beaches instead of stopping. Tours typically take about 13 hours from Paris and back.
